Common Pleas Court Hearings
Arraignments
Cody Johnson, 20, of Defiance, pleaded not guilty to a charge of theft, a fifth-degree felony. Johnson, who is also being held on charges in Wauseon, will appear for a pretrial conference at 8 a.m. November 25.
Timothy Robinson, 58, of Convoy, entered a not guilty plea to a charge of domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony. Robinson was released on a personal surety bond, with the condition that he have no contact with the alleged victim in the case. A pretrial conference was scheduled for 8 a.m. November 25.
Thomas L. Anderson II, 28, of Convoy, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony offense. Anderson was released on a personal surety bond and a pretrial conference scheduled for 8 a.m. November 25.
Terry Powell, 44, of Van Wert, entered a not guilty plea to a three-count indictment charging him with burglary, a second-degree felony; theft of drugs, a fourth-degree felony; and safecracking, a fourth-degree felony offense. Power was ordered held on a $50,000 cash bond, as well as a personal surety bond, and a pretrial conference set for 8 a.m. November 25.
Bille Joe Binnion Jr., 40, of Convoy, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Binnion was released on a personal surety bond and a pretrial conference was scheduled for 8 a.m. November 25.
Kasey L. Schisler, 21, of Van Wert, entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony offense. Schisler was ordered held in jail because the charge was allegedly committed while he was out on bond for a similar drug charge to which he had already pleaded guilty. A pretrial conference was set for 8 a.m. November 25.
Tasha N. Stevens, 26, of Van Wert, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft from an elderly person, a fifth-degree felony. Stevens was released on a personal surety bond and a pretrial conference scheduled for 8 a.m. November 25.
Jason L. Burton of Van Wert entered a not guilty plea to a fifth-degree felony charge of theft. Burton was ordered held on a $10,000 bash bond, as well as a personal surety bond, and a pretrial hearing was scheduled for 8 a.m. November 25.
Sentencing
Celia Diaz, 25, of Van Wert, was sentenced to a year of community control on a charge of aggravated trespassing, a first-degree misdemeanor.
According to city police, Diaz entered a Van Wert resident’s home and apparently slept for a period of time in the basement. She was allegedly intoxicated and disoriented at the time.
Judge Steele ordered Diaz to undergo a substance abuse assessment and complete any treatment programs recommended.
Bond violation
Chad Diltz, 34, of Van Wert, was ordered held on an appearance bond violation for not making arrangements for installation of electronically monitored house arrest equipment. Diltz was ordered held in jail until the equipment is installed. Diltz is awaiting sentencing on a drug-related charge on December 9.
Community Control violation
Christina Diltz, 28, of Van Wert, denied she violated her community control and a hearing will be held at a later date.
Joshua Saracino of Grover Hill denied violating his community control by refusing to go to the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation (WORTH) Center in Lima. A hearing will be scheduled at a later date.
Kayla M. Taylor of Van Wert admitted violating her community control by not reporting and failing to report to her supervising probation officer that she had been cited by police for underage consumption. Taylor was resentenced to three years of community control and ordered to spend up to six months in the WORTH Center.
Change of plea
Bradley J. Hall, 31, last known address Delphos, entered a guilty plea to a charge of theft, a fifth-degree felony offense. According to Van Wert police, Hall allegedly stole a large-screen television from the Walmart Supercenter in June. Hall has similar charges pending in Wyandot County and in Indiana. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 23.
Judicial Release hearings
Robert J. Hartman, 19, of Van Wert, appeared for a judicial release hearing, but the hearing was continued while further investigation is completed.
Joshua Trenkamp of Delphos was granted judicial release from prison and placed on five years of community control. Trenkamp will spend up to six months in the WORTH Center and must undergo substance abuse and psychological assessments. Trenkamp was originally charged with the burglary of a rural Van Wert residence where firearms and electronic equipment was taken.
