HARTMAN
    Marilyn S. Hartman, 70, of Van Wert, died at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at her residence.
    She was born December 29, 1937, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Donald and Edith (Boham) Hines. On December 28 1956, she married Gary G. Hartman, who survives in Van Wert.
    Other survivors include four children, Terry (Sandra) Hartman of Convoy, Jeff (Tammy) Hartman of Ohio City, Pam (Kevin) Krick of Monroeville, Ind., and Tami (Jeff) Couts of Auburn, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    Two brothers, Donnie and Johnnie Hines; two sisters, Betty Konkle and Carolyn Seekings; and two grandchildren, Codi Hartman and Toby Tate, also preceded her in death.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
    Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the funeral home.

HOUSTON
    Joann Irene Houston, 70, of Van Wert, died at 6:42 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.
    She was born January 15, 1938, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn (Turner) Lueben. On September 9, 1987, she married Larry Houston, who survives in Van Wert.
    Other survivors include four children, Robert (Tracy) Broten and Donna (Clay Lytle) Mills, both of Van Wert, Denise (Kenneth) Jay of Ohio City and Barbara (Ty) Krueckeberg of Convoy; a brother, Jack (Karen) Lueben of Urbana, Md.; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
    There will be no funeral services or visitation.
   
Memorials: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert, or the Disabled American Veterans.

VANCLEAVE
    James D. VanCleave, 93, of Van Wert, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
    He was born July 2, 1914, in Mattoon, Ill., the son of the late Charles L. and Ruth A. (Welch) VanCleave. On December 24, 1934, he married Louise Marie VanCleave, who died November 19, 2004.
    Survivors include a daughter, Judith A. (William R. “Dick”) Knodel of Van Wert; two daughters-in-law, Lynda VanCleave of Kensington and Connie VanCleave of Urbana; a brother-in-law, John R. Patrick of New Mexico; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren
    Two sons, James Charles VanCleave and Stephen W. VanCleave; a sister, Mildred Welch; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Patrick, also preceded him in death.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Tim Burden officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
    Visitation is from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the funeral home.
