GILBERT
    Clara C. Gilbert, 69, of Van Wert, died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
    She was born February 8, 1939, in Glenmore, the daughter of the late Elmer Edward and Florence Viola (Giessler) Garver.
    Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia (Mark) Sundem of Olympia, Wash., and Connie (Mike) Butler and Cathy (Jeff) Jones, both of Van Wert; a brother, Edward E. (Alice) Garver of Van Wert; one sister, Rosemary L. “Squeedle) Krick of Ohio City; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Jody Harr officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
    Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, April 27, and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

AMES
    Everett G. Ames, 93, of Paulding, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Country Inn Assisted Living in Paulding.
    He was born June 18, 1914, in Payne, the son of the late Fred L. and Agatha (Grant) Ames. On June 5, 1937, he married Gertha K. (Wyatt) Ames, who survives in Paulding.
    Other survivors include two children, Marese (Tim) Bechler of Hastings, Mich., and Randy (Alice) Ames of Wauseon; and five grandchildren.
    A brother, Trenton Ames; and one sister, Wanda Hayes, also preceded him in death.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Mohr Cemetery in Van Wert County.
    Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the funeral home.

DAVIS
    Orval K. “Jack” Davis, 99, of Rockford, died at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
    He was born April 13, 1909, in Ohio, to the late Bert and Cora (Anselman) Davis. On February 6, 1929, he married Evelyn Louetta (Counterman) Davis, who preceded him in death on May 26, 1992.
    Survivors include two sons, Melvin Davis of Bryan and Richard Keith Davis of Rockford; a daughter, Sharon Ames of Fort Wayne, Ind.; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
    Three brothers, Raymond, Woodrow and Robert, and an infant sister, also preceded him in death.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Mike Berne officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
    Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 27, and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
