KNOLL
Mildred Marlene Knoll, 88, of Stockton, Calif., died at 3:15 p.m. Monday,
February 18, 2008, at Sunbridge Hampton Nursing Home in Stockton.
She was born February 1, 1920, the daughter of Charles Elmer
Knoll, who died March 31, 1965, and Imogene (Lees) Knoll, who died February 5,
1975.
Miss Knoll was a graduate of Van Wert High School and, upon
graduation, attended nurses training at City Hospital in Springfield and earned
a four-year nursing degree as a Registered Nurse. Upon graduation from nurse’s
training, Mildred entered service in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Ky. After basic
training, she was commissioned as an office and assigned to the European Theater
with the 915th Evacuation Hospital. Upon the completion of World War
II, she was decommissioned as a captain. On her return home, she continued her
education in Cleveland, completing her master’s degree in business
administration at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. She was then accepted
as head of pediatric medicine at San Joaquin County Hospital in Stockton and
retired from there in a senior nursing administrative role. She will be sadly
missed by all family and friends.
Survivors include a brother, Charles E. (Flo) Knoll Jr. of
Sarasota, Fla.; and a nephew, Bill J. Knoll of Van Wert.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m.
Monday, March 3, at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with the Rev. Dr. Edward
Jillson officiating. The combined honor guards of American Legion Post 178 and
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert, will also perform military
honors at the cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

MYERS
Byron R. “Barney” Myers, 72, of Convoy, died at 5:10 p.m.
Monday, February 18, 2008, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born June 12, 1935, in Van Wert County, the son of the
late Russell A. and Myrtle (Gleckler) Myers. On April 27, 1957, he married Linda
A. (Figert) Myers, who survives in Convoy.
Other survivors include two children, Larry (Elaine) Myers
and Valerie “Susie” (Steve) Wood, both of Convoy; a sister, Romaine Feasby of
Convoy; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five
stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday,
February 22, at Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home in Convoy, with the Rev.
Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, February 21, at the
funeral home.
