HERRICK

Agnes I. Herrick, 94, of rural Convoy, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born June 27, 1915, in Greensburg Township, Putnam County, the daughter of the late Frank B. and Louisa (Hulsman) Karhoff. On October 1, 1947, she married Gilbert Wayne Herrick, who preceded her in death on October 5, 1997.

Mrs. Herrick was a homemaker and has also worked for a time at Van Wert Manor nursing home. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include four children, Linda Herrick and Larry (Cathy) Herrick, both of Convoy, Dean (Patty) Herrick of Van Wert and Diane (Michael) Werling of Decatur, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Shon (Laura) Herrick, Kade Herrick, Kaci (Kevin) Fox, Tiffany (Jeremy) Cox, Jay (Tammy) Herrick, Callie (Jason) Miller, and Brent Werling; three stepgrandchildren, Dennis (Lisa) Hardin, William (Debbie) Hardin and Rita Rigney; five great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Mike Zacharias officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a parish vigil service will be held at 8 that evening following calling hours.

Preferred memorials: St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church or Convoy Fire and EMS Department.

HECKERT

Christopher A. Heckert, 39, of Van Wert, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

He was born September 25, 1970, in Lima, the son of Gary D. Heckert, who survives in Decatur, Ind., and Helen M. (Custer) Wisener, who survives in Va Wert. He married Trisha (Parks) Heckert, who also survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include five children, Shanay, Donavon, Johnathon, James and Tanner Heckert; a stepson, Jesse Parks; two brothers, Edmund J. “Bud” Heckert of Tallmadge and Gary L. (Annick) Heckert of Van Wert; and one grandchild.

His stepfather, John E. Wisener; and a son, Zachary Heckert, also preceded him in death.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in rural Van Wert County, with Pastor Joe Weiss officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

SAXTON

George H. Saxton Jr., 38, of Van Wert, died at 10:38 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born February 7, 1972, in Paulding, the son of George H. Saxton Sr. and Karen M. (Wells) Saxton, both of whom survive in Van Wert. On September 15, 2001, he married Teresa L. (Ashbaugh) Saxton, who also survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include his maternal grandmother, Violet Wells of Van Wert; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Ashbaugh of Van Wert; three children, Raymond M. Saxton, Ciera N. Saxton and Brianna J. Saxton, all of Van Wert; a stepdaughter, Jenni (Jessi) Higbie of Lima; one brother, Chad E. Saxton of Van Wert; three sisters, Tammie S. (Jeff) Etchey of Hicksville, Kendra S. (Ronald) Grishaber of Van Wert and April L. (Jeremy) Henry of Woodburn, Ind.; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with Pastor Tom Cover officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the funeral home, with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 that evening.
