GIESSLER
Wayne A. Giessler, 84, of Van Wert, died at 8:20 a.m.
Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born September 22, 1923, in Harrison Township, Van
Wert County, the son of the late Arthur and Mabel (Bell) Giessler. On
January
26, 1946, he married Patricia “Patty” (Harr) Giessler, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Giessler retired as a supervisor for the former
Continental Can Company in Van Wert after 40 years of service. He was a member
of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy. Mr. Giessler served in the
U.S. Navy during World War II. In his retirement, he refinished antique
furniture. He was an avid world traveler up until 2005. He also served as a
volunteer for the American Red Cross.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Sarah
(Dale) Burden of Convoy; and one brother, Karl Giessler of Van Wert.
A brother, Paul Giessler, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday,
March 3, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev.
Tim Burden officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, with military
graveside rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post
178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at the funeral
home.

BURRITT
Ronel A. “Pete” Burritt, 68, of Albany, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, February 28,
2008, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
He was born November 13, 1939, in Vinton County, the son of the late Arch and
Evah (Jones) Burritt. On September 29, 1962, he married Caroline (Wheaton)
Burritt, who survives in Delphos.
Other survivors include a son, Ron Burritt of Delphos; one brother, Mike (Ushi)
Burritt of Akron; a sister, Shirley Nelson of Columbus, Ga.; and two
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Bigony-Jordan
Funeral Home in Albany, with the Rev. Walter Goble officiating. Burial will be
at a later date.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, March 1, and an hour prior to services
Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials: Donor’s choice.
RUNNION
Robert W.
Runnion, 84, of Van Wert, died at 8:56 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008, at
Hearth & Home of Van Wert.
He was born September 18, 1923, in Van Wert, the son of the
late Simon Delbert and Ethyl Florine (Bower) Runnion. He married Arlene Lois
(Jewell) Runnion, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, Dana Robert (Rhonda) Runnion
of St. Marys; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Teresa Ann Taylor; and two brothers, Delbert
“Gene” and Ralph “Pete” Runnion, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, at
Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Will Haggis
officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside
military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post
178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803.
Visitation is from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at the
funeral home.
Memorials: St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or a charity of donor’s
choice.
