Death notices for Vernabel Louise Compton and Robert D. Fowler Sr.

COMPTON
    Vernabel Louise Compton, 81, of Van Wert, died at 2:05 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2008, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
    She was born March 29, 1926, the daughter of the late Floyd W. and Estella Murphy. On April 14, 1945, she married Gale R. Compton, who survives.
    Other survivors include three children, Jacqueline Sherer of Van Wert and Randall (Patricia) Compton and Ronald (Eve) Compton, both of St. Marys; a brother, Billy (Shirley) Murphy of Findlay; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
    A sister, Ruth Moore, also preceded her in death.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller and Pastor Chad Chute officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Ridge Township.
    Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, at the funeral home.

FOWLER
    Robert D. Fowler Sr., 80, of Van Wert, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2008, at his residence.
    He was born September 5, 1927, in Dull, the son of the late Doyt and Goldie (Wheeler) Fowler. He married Evelyn (Jacobs) Fowler, who died July 3, 1990.
    Survivors include three sons, Robert Fowler Jr., Donnie (Pauline) Fowler and Andrew “Jake” (Rita) Fowler, all of Van Wert; two daughters, Beverly Stant of Willshire and Sandy (Robert) Conrad of Van Wert; a brother, Raymond Fowler of Oak Harbor; one half-brother, Fredrick Fowler of New York; two sisters, Madelyn Sneary of Lima and Pauline Thrower of South Carolina; two half-sisters, Carol Bowers of Cairo (Ohio) and Cathy Payne of Lima; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
    A son, Johnny Clark Fowler, and his stepmother, Winifred (Couts) Fowler, also preceded him in death.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 8, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Lima, where graveside military rites will be performed.
    Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 7, and an hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
