MUNTZINGER
    Benton W. “Ben” Muntzinger, 82, of Van Wert, died at his residence, although it is not certain what day he died.
    He was born September 25, 1925, in Van Wert County, the son of the late William E. and Oval G. (Pierce) Muntzinger. He was married to Betty J. (Hartmire) Muntzinger, who died August 27, 2007.
    Mr. Muntzinger retired in 1984 after 37 years as a toolmaker for Federal-Mogul Corporation in Van Wert. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a life member of the Van Wert Elks lodge, a life member of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert, and formerly served on the Finance Committee of the church for 12 years.
    A brother, Gene Muntzinger, and one sister, Marie Yvonne Kauble, also preceded him in death.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. William C. Haggis II officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803.
    Visitation is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
