Death notice for Franklin Elliot "John" Mengerink.
MENGERINK
Franklin Elliot “John” Mengerink, 64, of Van Wert, died at
7:20 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas,
Nev.
He was born March 17, 1943, in West Unity, the son of the
late Edward and Dorothy (Mumford) Mengerink.
Mr. Mengerink was a heavy machinery operator for the former
E.W. Mengerink & Son Company and Richard Schumm Plumbing & Heating Company, both
of Van Wert. He was a member of the Van Wert Moose and Eagles lodges. John loved
polkas, both music and dancing.
Survivors include a son, John E. (Lynn) Mengerink of
Plainfield, Ill.; five brothers, Donald “Buddy” (Barb) Mengerink, Roger (Carol)
Mengerink, Larry (Diane) Mengerink and Kenneth “Butch” (Karen) Mengerink, all of
Van Wert, and Chuck (Melanie) Mengerink of Hendersonville, Tenn.; three sisters,
Dorothy (Tim) Agler of Ohio City, Meredith High of Miamisburg and Pat Holtsberry
of Van Wert; and a grandson, David John Mengerink of Plainfield, Ill.
Two brothers, Edward and Robert Mengerink, and three sisters,
Joyce Williams, Marilyn Dempsey and Gloria Jean Miller, also preceded him in
death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday,
January 25, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller
officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, January 24, at the
funeral home.
