EXLINE
Shirley A. Exline, 72, of Van Wert, died at 1:25 p.m. Friday,
January 18, 2008, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born November 4, 1935, in Payne, the daughter of the
late Roy and Marie (Fegley) Gaskil. On September 5, 1959, she married James W.
Exline, who died May 1, 2005.
Survivors include a son, Joel Salway of Springfield; and
three sisters, Patty Marquardt and Thelma Gerardot, both of Monroeville, Ind.,
and Janice E. Decker of Van Wert.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday,
January 21, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the
Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio
City.
Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, January 20, at the
funeral home.

KETTERING
C. Ray Kettering, 93, of Rockford, died Friday, January 18,
2008, at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
He was born September 5, 1914, the son of the late John and
Dora (Sapp) Kettering. On February 14, 1937, he married Echo (Stallter)
Kettering, who survives in Rockford.
Other survivors include a son, Keith (Kris) Kettering of
Bloomfield, Mich.; three daughters, Kay (John) Thomas of Rockford, Karen (Wayne)
Roell of Dale, Ind., and Kathy (Stew) McHie of Oakton, Va.; seven grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Three sisters, Marie Samples, Eva Bayles, and Betty Miller,
and a granddaughter, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday,
January 21, at Rockford United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mike Berne
officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, January 20, at
Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, and an hour prior to services Monday at
the church.

SIMINDINGER
Kenneth Ivan Simindinger, 82, of Mandale, died at 6 p.m.
Friday, January 18, 2008, at Convoy Care Center.
He was born May 8, 1925, in Mandale, the son of the late
George and Goldie (Leiber) Simindinger. He first married Betty (Talbott)
Simindinger, who died December 23, 1987. He then married Martha Verdene (Pease)
Lehman Simindinger, who died July 3, 2006.
Survivors include six sons, Virgil (Teresa) Simindinger and
Marcus (Lisa) Simindinger, both of Van Wert, Kenneth George (Elizabeth)
Simindinger of Ottoville, Terry Simindinger of Grover Hill and Jerry Simindinger
and Timothy Simindinger, both of Cloverdale; a sister, Donna Mae Simindinger of
Van Wert; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A son, Charles David Simindinger; two brothers, Gayle Smith
and Virgil George Simindinger, who was killed in World War II; and a
granddaughter, Heather Renee Simindinger; also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday,
January 22, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Don Rogers
officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery near Grover Hill.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Monday, January 21, at the
funeral home.

BERLANGA
Richard R. “Bummer” Berlanga, 51, of Ohio City, died Friday
evening, January 18, 2008, in Ohio City.
He was born August 26, 1956, in Celina, the son of the late
Francisco S. and Cristofora (Garcia) Berlanga. He never married.
Survivors include four brothers, Frank Berlanga Jr. of
Shepherdsville, Ky., Santos Berlanga of Rockford, Joe (Janet) Berlanga of
Pontiac, Mich., and Lupe Berlanga of Ohio City; six sisters, Rosa (Juan)
Palomina of Defiance, Josephine (Robert) Gonzales of Fort Pierce, Fla., Olivia
(Richard) Ortiz of Decatur, Ind., and Adelina Berlanga, Janie Rose and Florie
Bollenbacher, all of Rockford; and many nieces, nephews and other extended
family.
Two brothers, Juan Berlanga and Roy Berlanga, also preceded
him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday,
January 25, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Randy Bevington
of Ohio City Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in
Rockford.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, January 24, at the
funeral home.
