Death notices for Ruth V. Priddy and Carol Ann Richards.
PRIDDY
Ruth V. Priddy, 91, of Van Wert, died at 9 p.m. Saturday,
January 19, 2008, at Convoy Care Center.
She was born June 22, 1916, in Jackson Township, Van Wert
County, the daughter of the late Alfred and Bessie (Adams) Thompso
n. On June 22,
1941, she married Josef Priddy, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Priddy was a retired schoolteacher who taught for 32
years in a number of area schools, including Grover Hill Elementary,
Hoaglin-Jackson Elementary, Horace Mann Elementary, Anthony Wayne Elementary,
Franklin Elementary and the Marsh Foundation. She was a member of First United
Methodist Church in Van Wert and the United Methodist Women’s Society. She was a
member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 178 for more than 50 years, a member of
the Van Wert YWCA (served on the board of directors for one year), a 20-year
member of the Van Wert County Board of Health, and was a member of Beta Sigma
Phi, Preceptor Chapter, for 50 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Alberta (Charles) McConnell of
Fort Wayne, Ind.; one brother, Mahlon Thompson; a sister, Rosalie (Jerry) Sholl
of Oakwood; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Jethro McConnell; and many nieces and
nephews. In addition to her family and friends, her memory will be cherished by
her many former students, who were influenced by her life.
A brother, Vernon Thompson; one sister, Manota Edwards; and
her special friend, Von Williamson, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday,
January 24, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W.
Miller and Pastor Randy Foreman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery
in Van Wert.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, and an
hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or
Convoy Care Center’s Activity Fund or Community Health Professionals-Hospice.

RICHARDS
Carol Ann Richards 66, of Van Wert, died Saturday, January
19, 2008.
She was born June 18, 1941 in Lima, the daughter of the late
Michael and Helen (Nay) Maloney. She married Don Richards, who preceded her in
death.
Mrs. Richards was an avid gardener, loved flowers, enjoyed
sewing, quilting, antiquing and above all, spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two children, a daughter, Pam (Brad)
Knodel of Van Wert, and a son, Mike (Crystal) Mohr of O’Fallon, Ill.; four
brothers; Bob (Carol) Maloney of Middle Point; Steve (Gloria) Maloney of Troy,
Rod (Cheryl) Maloney of Elida, and Jeff (Deb) Maloney of Eudora, Kan.; and four
grandchildren, Katlin Knodel, Nathan Knodel, Hunter Mohr and Sean Mohr.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kim Mohr.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 26, at Trinity United
Methodist Church in Van Wert. At the family’s request, her body was cremated.
There will be no visitation.
