Teri A. Sowers, 48, of Van Wert, died at 1:34 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile acci
dent.She was born February 7, 1959, in Van Wert, the daughter of Helen L. (Ward) Hoverman, who survives in Van Wert, and the late Charles Olen Hoverman. On June 24, 1989, she married Michael R. Sowers, who survives.
Mrs. Sowers was director of Van Wert County Crime Victims Services and had also worked as a paralegal for Legal Aid for nearly 20 years. She was very active in the Van Wert Civic Theatre, serving on several boards and as the sound technician and director. She was also involved in the United Way of Van Wert County.
In addition to her mother and husband, survivors include two children, Natalie (Edward) Van Winkle of Charlotte, N.C., and Marc (fiancé Kristin Kalkreuth) Flickinger of Cincinnati; two brothers, Richard “Dick” (Pam) Hoverman and Michael Olen (Mary) Hoverman of Maumee; and two sisters, Mary Lou Johns of Charlotte, N.C., and Barbara J. (Tom) Furniss of Waterville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 26, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Harr officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Friday, January 25, at the funeral home.
