Death notices for Zachary Clark Gent and James W. Amweg Jr.

 

GENT
    Zachary Clark Gent, 19, of Van Wert, died Sunday morning, January 27, 2008, at his residence.
    He was born April 4, 1988, in Van Wert, the son of Robert E. Gent, who survives in Decatur, Ind., and Leslie Custer, who survives in Convoy. He was not married.
    Other survivors include his stepmother, Katherine Gent of Decatur; two brothers, Bronson “BJ” Brown and Chandler Brown, both of Convoy; a sister, Jordanlee “Brooke” Custer of Convoy; grandmothers Judy Meade of Las Vegas, Nev., and Betty J. (David) Langorn of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and his great-grandmother, Laura Nelson Stuart of Florida.
    His grandfathers, Robert “Whitey” Gent and Jerry L. Custer and a great-grandmother, Willy Vanover.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 31, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
    Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, at the funeral home.

AMWEG
    James W. Amweg Jr., 65, of Celina and formerly of Ohio City, died Sunday morning, January 27, 2008, at his residence.
    He was born May 10, 1942, in Van Wert, the son of the late James W. and Mary (Felger) Amweg.
    Mr. Amwe
g retired from Federal-Mogul Corporation in Van Wert after more than 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Delphos Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert.
    Survivors include a companion, Linda Howell of Celina; two children, Lisa (Rob) Akes of Lumberton, Texas, and Stephen (Michelle) Amweg of Fredericksburg, Va.; a sister, Martha Cox of Van Wert; and four grandchildren, Emily, Caroline, Jesse and Madeline Akes.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 31, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Randy Bevington officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted.
    Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, at the funeral home.
