Death notices for Carl W. Prill and Mary Catherine Closson.
PRILL
Carl W. Prill, 73, formerly of Van Wert and currently of St. Joseph, Mich., died
at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
He was born March 29, 1934, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Doyt L. and
Mary Jane (Williams) Prill. On June 22, 1957, he married Mary Lou (Girod) Prill,
who surv
ives in St. Joseph.
Mr. Prill worked for Aeroquip Corporation for 40 years, having served as plant
manager at various locations and retiring as director of operations. He was a
member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church in St. Joseph, Mich. Mr. Prill had
served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He also served on the Board of Directors of the
Eagle Pointe Yacht Club, was a member of the St. Joseph Elks Lodge, a member of
American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert, was involved with Toys for Tots and was a
former member of Van Wert Rotary Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, David (Deborah) Prill
of Spring Hill, Fla., Kevin (Tanya) Prill of Saline, Mich., and Susan (Randy)
Copas of Marshall, Mich.; and eight grandchildren, Daniel, Shannon, Jessica,
Eric, Marissa, and Drew Prill, and Morgan and Hunter Copas.
Three brothers, Howard, Harold and Gordon Prill, and a sister, Thelma Prill,
also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 3, at
Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller
officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with military
graveside rites performed by the combined honors units of Legion Post 178 and
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Saturday, February 2, at the funeral
home.

CLOSSON
Mary Catherine Closson, 89, of Delphos, died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, January 30,
2008, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born December 4, 1918, in Columbus Grove, the daughter of the late
George and Lucinda M. (Johnson) Meeks. She married George Albert Closson, who
preceded her in death in 1986.
Survivors include three sons, Harold (Margie) Closson of Bluffton and Roger
(Anna Jayne) Closson and Michael (Gloria) Closson, both of Delphos; a daughter,
Judy Ann (Michael) Parsons of Delphos; one brother, Benny Meeks of Delphos; a
daughter-in-law, Charlene Closson; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and
two great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, George Jr. and Jimmy Closson; two brothers, George and Ivan Meeks; a
sister, Marie Miller; and one great-grandchild, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, at Harter
and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with the Rev. Dan Eaton officiating. Burial
will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Friday, February 1, and from 9 a.m. until the time
of services Saturday at the funeral home.
