MARY ALICE (GREMLING) KAYSER ERVIN

Mary Alice (Gremling) Kayser Ervin, 81, of Delphos, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at her residence.

She was born April 17, 1929, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Joseph and Petronella (Carder) Gremling. She first married Bernard Kayser, who preceded her in death, and then married Robert Ervin, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include four sons, Tim (Kathy) Kayser, Bernard “Chip” Kayser and Mike (Shelly) Kayser, all of Delphos, and Douglas “Dewey” (Kristy) Kayser of New Haven, Ind.; two daughters, Deborah “Sue” (John) Stemen of Middle Point and Josine Kayser of Minneapolis, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Gene and Raymond Gremling; four sisters, Coletta Wannemacher, Pauline Keith, Ruth Downey and Evelyn Huster; and a grandson, Luke Kayser, also preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Delphos.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 7:30 that evening and the Rosary will be read.

Preferred memorials: Senior Citizen Center of St. John’s Church.

 

WILLIAM C. BAXTER

William C. Baxter, 83, of Delphos, died at 3:52 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2010, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.

He was born May 9, 1927, in Elida, the son of the late Clinton and Edith (Painter) Baxter. On June 16, 1950, he married Mary E. Strayer, who survives in Delphos.

Other survivors include a son, William C. (Pam) Baxter II; a daughter, Susan (Dave) Casemier; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A sister, Frances Swank, also preceded him in death.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos, with the Rev. David Howell officiating.

There will be no visitation.
