BRADY
Merle F. Brady, 90, of Van Wert, died at 8:16 a.m. Friday morning, June 26, 2009, at his residence.
He was born January 25, 1919, in Watseka, Ill.,
the son of the late Albert S. and L. Louise (Osterman) Brady. On October 17,
1943, he married Naomi L. (Reese) Brady, who survives in Van Wert.
No other survivors were listed.
Four brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Tim Burden officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the funeral home, where Masonic and 40 et 8 services will be held that evening.

PALMER
C. Isabel Palmer of Van Wert passed away peacefully at 10:08 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert. She was 89.
She was born January 12, 1920, in Van Wert, the
daughter of the late Eva May (Perry) Blake and Martin Bernard Blake. On December
30, 1939, she
married Robert Maurice Palmer, who preceded her in death on August 26, 1993.
Isabel lived her entire life in Van Wert. She graduated from Van Wert High School in 1938 and worked at Hunter Drug Store while her husband served in World War II. She spent most of her life doing what she loved best: cooking, cleaning and taking great care of her daughter, Penny, and husband Bob.
She loved music, dancing, playing the card game “31” and serving her many friends and family. Isabel was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert and served the church by organizing countless congregational dinners. She was a member of United Presbyterian Women and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Isabel was the last survivor of the eight Blake children. Preceding her in death were six sisters, Bernice Weis, Margaret Eikenbary, Julie Ramsey, Katy Imler, Ann White, and Jean Stockmeir, and one brother, Franklin Blake.
She is survived by her daughter, Penny, and son-in-law, Mike Curtiss of Brownsburg, Ind., and three grandchildren, Ben (Jenny) Curtiss of Zionsville, Ind., Betsy (Nathan) Rude of Lizton, Ind., and Cassie (John) Pitney of Fishers, Ind. She was also “Nana” to four great-grandchildren, Drew and Will Curtiss, Jackson Rude and Hayley Pitney. Additional survivors include many nieces and nephews, and faithful friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Tom Steensma officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

KESLER
James Anthony Kesler, 66, of Van Wert, died
Friday, June 26, 2009, at his residence.
He was born September 30, 1942, in Van Wert, the
son of the
late Hayden L. and Rita M. (Friemoth) Kesler. On November 4, 1967, in St. John
the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, he married Carolyn A. (Burger)
Kesler, who survives i
n Van Wert.
Mr. Kesler retired from the former Aeroquip Corporation after 39 years in customer service. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, a 1960 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School and attended St. Meinrad’s Seminary and Xavier University. He had also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Erin (Todd) Hansen of Upper Sandusky and Erica A. (Kirk) Berryman of Middle Point; a sister, Sue (John) Sherran; Keith (Lori) Allen of Van Wert; his mother-in-law, Margaret Burger of Van Wert; and four grandchildren, Derek Hansen, J.B. Hansen, Allison Berryman and Adam Berryman.
A son, Kevin James Kesler, died in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Mike Zacharias officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 5803, both in Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where a parish Rosary service will be held at 8 that evening.
