Ervin N. Young, 76, of Van Wert, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
He was born June 22, 1931, in Van Wert, the son of the late Issac Jay and Flossie Viola (Mace) Young. On May 8, 1949, he married M

(Tomlinson) Young, who died March 9, 2004.Mr. Young retired from Crestview Local Schools after 15 years of service. He also worked at Kennedy Manufacturing in Van Wert and New Idea in Coldwater. He was minister at 6 Mile Chapel Church and enjoyed doing locksmith work. Mr. Young never met a stranger. He made friends with everyone and enjoyed visiting with all.
Survivors include five children, Cindy E. (Mike) Young, Melanie L. (David) Mace, and Jeffery M. (Kari) Young, all of Van Wert, Timothy N. (Kathy) Young of Fort Wayne, Ind., and K. David (Connie) Young of Middle Point; seven grandchildren, Emily R. Young of Holland, Mich., Drs. Zachary T. (Misty) Young of Dunlap, Ill., Mandy M. (Bill) Hemming of Bowling Green, Justin M. Kohorst, Madison J. Young and Kellie M. Mace, all of Van Wert, and Hanna L. Young of Middle Point; and two great-granddaughters, Gianna R. and Elena G. Hemming, both of Bowling Green. Other survivors include Beth A. Young of Holland, Mich.
An infant daughter, Rebecca Janeene Young; one sister, LaVera Russell, and three brothers, Delmar, LuVester “LL” and Theron Young, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Revs. Paul W. Miller and John Exman officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church youth group or Van Wert County Humane Society.
