WEIR
Gerald F. “Jerry” Weir, 81, of Van Wert, died at 8:20 a.m.
Friday, March 7, 2008, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born February 5, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Harold Weir
and Genevieve (Koschull) Weir Budde. On January 9, 1975, he married Shirley
(Anspaugh) Weir, who survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include three children, Peter (Susan) Weir of
Seal Beach, Calif., Robert (Teresa) Weir of Joliet, Ill., and Gerald (Moni) Weir
Jr. of Van Wert; five stepchildren, Richard (Sharon) Pierce of Haviland, Robert
(Becky) Pierce of St. Marys, Ricky (Becky) Pierce of Ohio City, Renee (Bill
Williams) Maroney of Troy, Mo., and Rhonda Lathrop of Van Wert; a brother,
Robert Weir of Ramsey, N.J.; one sister, Muriel (Timothy) Hagerty of Long
Island, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and 12
stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday,
March 11, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the
Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating, with military rites performed by the combined
honor guards of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803,
both of Van Wert.
Visitation is from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home, where a Masonic memorial service will be held that evening.

CAYWOOD
Lowell Edwin Caywood, 81, of Rockford, died at Friday, March
7, 2008, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born April 22, 1916, in Van Wert County, the son of
the late Delmer and Jessie (Huffman) Caywood. On August 8, 1975, he married Mary
Lou (Williams) Caywood, who survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Jimmy LaDoyt Caywood of
Van Wert, Randal Lee Caywood of Rockford and John (Angela) Caywood of Celina;
three daughters, Leona (John) Hudson of Blissfield, Mich., Betty Lou Caywood of
Rockford and Deborah Sue (Richard) Thompson of Portland, Ind.; two sisters,
Dorothy Mihm of Rockford and Betty (Frank) Kuhn of Yorkshire; nine
grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three
stepgreat-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Mary Catherine Caywood and Frances Williams,
also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday,
March 12, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with the Rev. Steve
Waterman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, and an hour
prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials: Olive Branch Church of God or a charity of
donor’s choice.
