SMITH
Leona A. Smith, 95, of Marion, Ind., died Monday, March 8, 2010, at Wesleyan Health Care in Marion.
She was born November 6, 1914, in Jamestown, N.D.

26, 1933, she married Edgar B. Smith, who preceded her in death on December 22,
1983.
Mrs. Smith graduated from Roll High School and had worked at Farnsworth, Ball Stores and Smith Brothers, as well as being a homemaker. She loved flower gardening and was active in her church at South Marion Friends and the United States F.W.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley A. (Arnell) Fast of Van Wert; one son, Joseph (Sharon) Smith of Marion; a sister, Catherine E. Green of Marion; 11 grandchildren, Cynthia (John) Tilford, Denise (Shaun) Blackburn, Mark (Lori) Fast, Jonathan (Stacy) Fast, David (Tisha) Fast, Jeffrey (Karen) Smith, Stephanie (Mark) Flandermeyer, Sharilyn (Randy) Woods, Sheila (Christopher) Montgomery, Joshua (Missy) Smith, and Charles (Stacy) Smith; and 24 great-grandchildren.
A son, Sherril Eugene Smith; one sister, Geraldine Deerfield; and a great-grandchild, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 S. Washington St., Marion, Ind., with Pastor Stanley Banker officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

CARR
Ola Mae Carr, 84, of Ohio City, died at 8:50 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born January 3, 1926, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Harry Richard and Amie Irene (Custer) Fry. On June 23, 1944, she married Victor Martin Carr, who preceded her in death on March 16, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Michael E. (Vickie) Carr of Louisville, Ky., and James J. (Sheryl) Carr of Ohio City; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Carr of Van Wert; one brother, Elzie Wayne (Georgia) Fry of Van Wert; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A son, Jerry Wayne Carr, and one sister, Betty Joan Schaadt, also preceded her in death.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, with Pastor Randy Bevington officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert.

FICKERT
John E. Fickert, 53, of Rockford, died at 12:52 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born March 5, 1957, in Celina, the son of Janet L. (Winemiller) Fickert and the late Ralph O. Fickert.
Other
survivors include a daughter, Elisha (Bart) Kuhn of Rockford; one brother, Jeff
(Tracie) Fickert of Hollansburg; and a grandson.
A brother, Timmy Fickert, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be in North Grove Cemetery in Celina, with graveside military rites performed by the Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, and an hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
